This two-day orientation is for individuals new to academic leadership at GW. The New Academic Leaders Orientation program will address a diverse range of topics, including GW Values, Shared Governance Principles, and guidance on the University's New Title IX and Prohibited Relationships Policies.

Unconscious bias may be undermining even our most fervent desire to support the university’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. In this session, participants will:       

  • explore the concept and meaning of unconscious bias       
  • discuss Harvard University’s Implicit Association Test       
  • review key research-based examples on the many ways that UB can impact hiring, assessments, and decision-making       
  • discuss strategies for combating unconscious bias in hiring and interactions with colleagues, staff, and students
